A newsletter is a great idea. It could be utilized once I have the SMTP server setup. With our current setup, it would literally take a month to send an email to every member on MPGH.

instead of sending mails and pms, make a new thread on the news and force users to read the thread to view the forums. There is a vbulletin mod for it.

That wouldn't work really, since the idea is to bring back some inactive members aswell. Once the STMP Server has been setup each and every registered member will receive the Newsletter in their email inbox (currently registered email).

If you just post it on MPGH none of the inactive members will read it, and that's not the idea. Unless all inactive members have used a fake email to create their account, people would read the email.

Yes we could have some sort of Contest, but unlike the SOTW it should have a (small) prize. Perhaps 1 or 2 weeks VIP?

That's too similar to (the existing) SOTW/MOTW etc.
We need to have Contests in which people have to show their efforts, not a 'guess the right number' or coloring contest.
