Is it okay in your opinion to hit children?

How this came up: My Mom was literally beating the shit out of my little sister...

There is a difference between spanking and hitting. A parent should not backhand their child, or actually "hit" them in my opinion. HOWEVER, if they child is misbehaving and continues to misbehave after been given a warning, then the parent has full right to spank the childs ass, and ONLY the ass, as there is more of a cushion there. Spanking has never really been for pain, more for embarrassment and culturing children as who is the alpha in the household.

If your mother was actually "beating" your sister, you should have called the cops. A parent full on beating their child is fucked up, but a parent who spanks the child is

If you give enough attention and care for what the hell is happening in your kids life hitting will be unknown to you, course you could be a dull assed ignore and do stupid things. Besides hitting is only bringing more anger in the kid.

P.S: I'm Asian, hitting kids is sorta how my parents grew up, so they sorta learn from their parents.
