Hey MPGH,

I'm just curious about what people would do in situations, so i'm going to start making a series of threads like @Aborted did, but mindfucking people in a different sense.

The Trolley Problem

This will be set into two spoilers, two versions.
Do one at a time, and attempt to do the questions before reading what others have posted

 

The trolley is rolling down a track, and you are standing near a lever to change tracks for the trolley.
If you don't move the lever, it will certainly kill 5 people and save one, but if you do, you will save 5 but kill one.
Would you pull the lever

Now remember your answer for version one, and now do version two

 

Imagine you are standing behind FatMan on a bridge, and you see a trolley coming down the track and will certainly kill 5 people, unless, you push with your own hands, FatMan off the bridge, stopping the trolley and saving 5, but his life will end for sure.
Will you push him?

Now post your answers, and if you want, why they differed/stayed the same for you

Pull the lever while the train is halfway over the switch, causing it to crash (Unless it's too hard too pull lol)

easy solution to saving all 6
there is no mention of them being tied down to the tracks, nor can you see them tied down, only tied around their body.
therefor i would switch the track so that it came in the direction of the single person, then simply pick him up since the average weight of a person is roughly 70 kgish which an average person can manage

one dying to save 5 is worth it, IMO
but
this is a simple question, i know nothing of the people on the tracks, and nothing of the "fatman"

#1 - I'd throw the OP in front of the trolley. They'll see a sheep and stop the trolley to fuck it. While that's happening I'll go up to the victims and laugh in their faces, proceed to take a piss on them, and then walk away.

#2 - I'd throw the OP in front of the volley with the fat man. Then I'd repeat the ending of #1.

Depends, how fast is the son of a bitch going? I know damn well if I pushed a fat guy in front of it while it is maxing at 120MPH, they will all die.
I like that outcome.

If @Ghost is right and they are not tied down, I am putting the one alone with the rest, for 3 reasons:

1. He does not deserve to die alone, or be the only one alive. He wants to be with his friends.
2. Those 6 are not even tied to the railroad tracks, so they want to die.
3. If that 7th guy controlling the trolley's tracks didn't notice it coming, he is shit and should have laid his head on the tracks in front of them.

You are the 7th person, and you just stumbled to see it coming, let's hypothetically say they're working on the track and dont see it coming, what would you do then.

Also, sometimes people have to die to save others.
That's just how life is.
