Modifying gun skins?

I'm sooo confuzzled, I know the file types. .LTB, and .DTX, I opened GUNS_SND_SMG.rez, right? So I opened it, and it came out with .LTB files. Okay, so thats all good. I looked at the .ltb tutorial, theirs no part about it that says how to change the skin on it. Then I modefyed WAITINGROOM witch are all .DTX files. I got to the end, beta tested it, it was a complete and utter failure , couldnt enter rooms or anything. So my 2 main questions

Why did my WAITINGROOM theme fail?

How can I change the skins on guns?

oh, and to edit the "skins" (smart people call them textures) extract GUNS_T_PV.rez, convert the DTX to lithtech, open with dedit, export as tga, open in paint/gimp/photoshop, edit, open dedit import as tga, convert to nexon, inject.
