How many of you know how to use a firearm?

I was wondering how many of MPGH know how to operate and maintain a firearm i myself just finished my Side arm training (Cadet school)

In the uk it's pretty rare for people to know how to handle a gun

I was taught when I was very young, I'm thinking around 8 or 9.
Fired tens of thousands of rounds since then.

I own several guns, i somewhat actively hunt as well. I also plan on buying either a Glock or a Sig Sauer within the next few months.

Outa curiosity what is Ireland's gun laws like?

Very strict, You can only really get a gun if your in the military or police forces, civilians can get weapons however they must go throw huge ammounts of background checks and have 2 none relatives sign off on them being sound of mind and even then they can be denied, you must also be apart of a gun range for atleast 18 months before you can take a weapon home with you.

When you eventually do get the weapon you can only get small arms 9mm 22s etc

Yeah thats hardcore. So if a civilian does manage to get a gun, can they conceal carry it? Or is that a huge no no? Also say your home is being invaded, are you even allowed to use it in that instance? I guess i could look all that up but i'd rather make conversation. lol.

Here in Cali we have restrictions on types of guns we can get, but has more to do with Assault Rifles and ammo clip sizes. There's actually a loop hole where you can build your own Assault Rifle and "technically" it's legal, i see a lot of guys in the gun shops ordering parts for that.

When it comes to conceal carry we have to apply for permits with the Sheriff, or some places the Chief of Police, which here in the bay area you won't get one unless your Law Enforcement, a Judge etc they will just automatically deny you. Matter fact, in Monterey County south of here not all that far away, rumor has it the only non LE person that has a permit to carry is Clint Eastwood. lol. You start getting outside the bay area a bit more though and you start to find Sheriffs that believe citizens should be armed and people can get them after a few tests and background checks.

I'n Ireland it is illegal to carry a firearm without a special permit, However that permit is extremely hard to get and is reserved for large security groups personal who must have military or police experience and pass even more background checks.However if someone was invading your home you could shoot and kill them but be prepared for a full scale investigation.
