I've been doing a lot of research on security lately and other things related to security(Mainly Web security, Working on a side project that includes needing to know basic web security). And while doing research there was a popup(More like a ad) explaining how this browser crasher works, So I thought I should share it because it doesn't look like chrome/firefox/safari are doing anything about it since it's been out for a little while.
it works by adding a string to your back button event. And it does it in a loop that does't end(Well kinda). And the string get's 2x bigger every time it does one loop. Witch will cause a memory over flow resulting in a browser crash and maybe your hole OS to crash.
Browsers it effects:
Chrome
Safari - Will restart your hole OS
Haven't tested on other browsers
Yesterday I decided to test this and it crashed my PC. I was already using like 70% of my ram so it didn't take much for it to crash my PC
And I'm only making this thread so peeps are aware that there's a browser crashing bug...
It's not hard to find the source code to this bug. I'm just not willing to get my account banned for uploading a browser crashing bug as it could be malicious reasons. Even tho it will not cause permanent damage.
But the most scary part of this bug is that it only takes 5 lines of code to crash your hole browser. and for IOS it can crash your hole phone.
p.s. I hope my spelling is readable xD
EDIT: I'm not a expert on web security but there's been recent updates to java script. witch could mean there are more things like this that mite come out soon.
