The main problem with it is the possibility to executing an innocent man, but no system is perfect.

a lot of money is spent making sure the person is guilty, and there is no proof that an innocent person has been executed yet

You do have to put into account that there have been several cases where death row inmates have escaped and killed several people before being apprehended again though.

Id bet anything that innocent people face execution more often then death row inmates escaping and murdering people.

Listen, I'm not arguing aginst the death penalty, but you gotta' accept the fact that sometimes innocent people get executed in our justice system.

And as for the death penalty for murder, IMO it depends on who they murdered, and the context of the murder. However, child molesters and rapist need to be executed.

There are stories of people who have been proven innocent (doesnt mean the state recognizes it), and are still in jail 10-20 years afterwards. I'm not surprised the state didn't reverse their verdict especially after he's already been executed.

From a justice-based regard, I'd content with daily torture for convicted killers and rapists. From an economical standpoint, I'd say just off them and be done with it. There's much too many restrictions, and the average death row inmate will spend at least 20+ years in prison before even getting the penalty.
