Idk I've noticed in my school and on the Internet the general population is just getting really depressed. Like everyone's sad these days. Idk maybe it's just me...
The standards for everything is just way to high these days, sometimes we just need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Well this generation gets shit for free. When you get shit for free you cannot value stuff for its true value. The realization of how people have it "better" than others makes people feel sorry for themselves and they get depressed.
focusing on the bad side in things never helps anybody
Just too much pressure on people these days, overcomplicating stuff that don't need to be.
Life is hard.

welp . this is life nowadays .
"Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harms we do, we do to ourselves."-Mitch Albom
This is simply because the way America is going, people are beginning to realize how shitty life really is. Plus my generation is going downhill fast, and 90% of people saying they're depressed are really just looking for attention and/or feeling bad for themselves. I think that a lot of people nowadays continue to misunderstand what depression really is.
“Depression is humiliating. It turns intelligent, kind people into zombies who can’t wash a dish or change their socks. It affects the ability to think clearly, to feel anything, to ascribe value to your children, your lifelong passions, your relative good fortune. It scoops out your normal healthy ability to cope with bad days and bad news, and replaces it with an unrecognizable sludge that finds no pleasure, no delight, no point in anything outside of bed. You alienate your friends because you can’t comport yourself socially, you risk your job because you can’t concentrate, you live in moderate squalor because you have no energy to stand up, let alone take out the garbage. You become pathetic and you know it. And you have no capacity to stop the downward plunge. You have no perspective, no emotional reserves, no faith that it will get better. So you feel guilty and ashamed of your inability to deal with life like a regular human, which exacerbates the depression and the isolation.
Depression is humiliating."
Life is just going down in general. Our population is being manipulated into continuing its selfish ways with no attention for the less fortunate or real issues of the world. Is it not depressing that society placed more importance on Miley Cyrus when her whole Disney girl to TV slut transition started than the whole Ebola situation?
We can have a whole thread about how awful our world is.
