The police suspect me of being part of a theft crime (suspecting more of an affiliate rather than action). They asked to interrogate me so I agreed to help the case and get my part of the story over with.

I have seen pictures of the people who committed the crime. I do not know any of them.

They still have reasonable suspicion it's me because I am the only person in the drivers license record with the name the kids said in my whole state of Missouri. Granted, I know another person of my name, spelled differently and underage.

I felt the interview was poorly executed, I could have displayed my rights better and not have been so nervous. Unfortunately, they still believe i'm part of it and asked me if I would be willing to take a Lie Detector Test (Polygraph test) on a different day. I refused saying that it's a waste of my time. I told the officer that I do not wish to be part of this anymore.

The officer then explained that he might have to question me further on a different day. I refused unless the police didn't waste my driving time. They would have to interview me on my front porch. He said that he would come get me, and bring me back to the station.

Legally, can he do this? I should have asked for an attorney during my interview but my mind got the best of me. I know my rights well enough and should have executed them better.

By the way, the only "evidence" of me being an affiliate is purely verbal. I stressed this on him several times during the interview. I'm guessing that this would prevent any type of warrant to enter my home right?


So in short, the two questions are:

Can police take me from my house to the police station without my consent?
Can they get a warrant to enter my house or to take me based on a hunch or verbal?

Thanks in advance!! Any extra tips with dealing with the police especially if i'm innocent? I don't want to waste any more of my busy time with a case I have no relationship or concern with. Nor do I want a strap around my wrist reading my pulse... claiming it's a lie detector.

And as a suspect I'm pretty sure they can arrest you and interrogate you, just not put you in jail.

Are you stupid? Thats like saying that all crimes committed outside of the home cease to exist once you step into your house. If they have a warrant it doesnt matter if they have your consent.

Yes, they would need a warrant to enter your house. A warrant is presented by a judge so the judge must've thought the officers had sufficient evidence to detain you.
