Which mousemat do you use?
I have the G502 and use a QPAD HeatoN Pro XL Gaming Hardtop Plastic Mouse Pad. I find that this is better for the G502 whose feet can catch on cloth mats. I also find that tracking and gliding is smoother with hardened mouse mats. I might buy the G440 mouse mat just so that it matches with my mouse but then again I'm in no rush.

I've heard some good things about that mouse pad. Why did you choose Aluminum over a rubber cloth one like the SteelSeries QcK?

The degradation of cloth based mouse mats and flimsy nature of them put me right off them. This Aluminium mouse mat not only keeps my hand cool but also provides a nice glide for my DeathAdder when I'm gaming on PC or just doing small tasks.

Holy crap, me too. They were Fukin $1 each so I ordered 2, 1 is just hanging in my room
Don't buy these might sound like a fantastic idea because of the space, and movement room, but they degrade so fast. I've had mine less than a year, and its at the point where throwing it away is a kindness. The top layer is already becoming separated, and it continuously looses grip and moves around.

That's what happens when you buy off brand computer hardware
It was on sale at the time.

If this was on sale, would you get it?
If I wanted to only operate a single case fan . I see your point though.
Razer Vespula dual sided gaming mat.
One side's reallllly smooth and the other has a slight texture to it.
Give my mouse a push and it'll glide right across the textured side.
Little bit costly for a mat though (You could probably get a mouse for the same $$).
