External HDD's compatibility with PS3 { Noob Friendly }

So for the people who are confused with why their External HDD wont work with PS3,
This is Information you need to know about an External Hard drive compatibility with PS3.

+ PS3's cannot read NTFS formate and can only read FAT32.
+ Formating FAT32 on Windows has a limitation of 30 GB.
+ Windows/OS cannot format FAT32 higher then 30 GB so you need a
Third Party Application to do it for you.
+ Formatting your HDD with erase contents so you need to back it up if you have important data!
+ NOTE: DOS Commands also cannot format FAT32 higher then 30GB and will
freeze your computer so don't even try!

Basically I am stating that if you have a 30 GB+ External Hard Drive you cannot use windows to format it to say 1TB,
You need to download a third party software that allows you to format FAT32 up to 2TB. (Software breaks the limitation.)
You can also find External HDD's that are already Formatted to FAT32 so ask your retailer if he/she has any.

If you are unsure if you need to format your HDD or not:

If your HDD is not FAT32 you need to format it.

1. > Go to My Computer
2. > Find the External HDD name
3. > Right click and select 'Properties'
4. > Format type will show under
'File system'

Good guide for a few people who may not know this

Upload it if you can, or name it for user search. Unless it's an authorized distributor (Microsoft/Java/Adobe) etc.

Can we use it to Download games and all the stuff for a PS3 DEX ? to play games on it ?

Yes you can bro, Just simple Download the game and make sure that your game is playable on your version.
Newer games cannot not run on 3.55 so you need to wait for coders to fix the problem with the games and upload when they can, other then that if you have high CFW then 3.55 like say 4.20 + you should be all good.

Be sure to connect to console manager and set your psn as 'OFW' as that disables 'CFW' functions and makes your ps3 look like an 'OFW.' Also use PSN Ninja before you plan to go online, PSN Ninja Deletes your history.. etc.

Thanks you for that amazing , reply it could be usefull but , i nerver used PSN patch etc , like : i play with a PS3 DEX 4.55 spof to 4.60 i use Filezila to transfers games to internal HDD ( in da ps3 ) , i always played like : Download game : put it in filezila : hdd_dev0 games : "game name" now i launch it ( with multiman and disconnected from psn ) then try it without eboot , works ? Add a eboot debug , connect in multiplayer page ( XMB bottom Connect / not Play online ) use RTM / RTE TOOL and plays why does i need use OFW mode or something else thx really

Aha but OFW mode is the safest, as I said it disables CFW functions.
