Windows 8

Is windows 8.1 (upgraded from 8) exactly the same as if u bought windows 8.1?

Microsoft support told me that the free upgrade is not the full version that means that you arent eliggible to get the windows 10 upgrade.
I feel that they were just bullshitting me, not sure but if its real its stupid.
Since i only have a windows 8 key, i cant reinstall windows 8.1 directly, need to install 8 then upgrade to 8.1 -_-

Thats complete bullshit. Upgrading for Win8.1 from Win8 is the same as havin Win8.1 from start. All needed files are there, so you'll have the same files needed to upgrade later to Win10.
