Minecraft Hacks - How to not get banned
Hi, I'm going to dump all my server owning knowledge to help you not get banned. I used to own a server for 2 years but I no longer run it. I'm going to explain a few things that some may not know.
What are Minecraft hacks?
Most Minecraft hacks are hacked clients which advantage the player using it. That's what I will be mostly focusing on today. Hacked clients work to its full extent in Single player and vanilla Minecraft Multiplayer.
Anti-Hack plugins
Plugins are extensions to the normal Minecraft gameplay. They allow to do specific things which normal Minecraft cannot provide. There are plugins designed to help servers defend against these hacked clients. Please note that there are multiple anti-hack plugins, but these are the most popular/stand out the most to me. Plugins can only be installed on a server version which is not vanilla Minecraft. Most common servers are spigot and bukkit servers (this doesn't really matter to the average user).
NoCheatsPlus
NoCheatsPlus is the most common and most popular anti-cheat plugin. It has over 1 million downloads already, so imagine how many servers are using it. All this plugin does is detect hackers and kick you (by default). It can be changed to a ban, but I haven't come across a server which has set it to ban. It also warns OP's/people who have permission to see NoCheatPlus hack messages. However, the bright side is that, the plugin detects "hacks" even if you aren't using it. So the those messages are pretty useless to server owners and they usually just turn it off.
How to check if a server has this: Not possible
AntiAura (Hack Blocker)
This is a paid plugin so many servers may not have it. However, it is getting very popular. This hacks aims to get rid of combat hacks and hacks which aren't addressed by NoCheatsPlus. It also kicks players (by default) when it detects players hacking. However, a server owner can easily change it to a ban. This plugin IS compatible with NoCheatsPlus, so together it makes a great combination.
How to check if a server has this: Type /atps You will get a message saying: "According to AntiAura, TPS is 20". If you get this message similar to this it means the server has it.
ChatControl
ChatControl is a popular chat plugin. It has over 100,000 downloads, so it is pretty popular.
How to check if a server has this: Type /ChatControl You will get a message saying: "ChatControl // Running v5.1.2-BETA". If you get this message similar to this it means the server has it.
SayLegit
There are multiple re-makes of this plugin, I just can't find it. Anyways, what this plugin does is stop hacking on a whole. It blocks everything before you even hack. What this does is asks you to say .legit in chat when you join. Some clients have a commands. Minecraft commands start with a forward lash (/), the hack client's command starts with a full stop (.). You can't say anything in chat if you start with a sentence with a full stop. Moderators now also ask people to say .legit in chat just in case if the person is really hacking. Last I checked Nodus bypasses this (as it uses its own command box). If you can't say .legit, you'll most likely get banned.
How to check if a server has this: You'll know as soon as you join.
Orebfuscator
Orebfuscator is a plugin which blocks the x-ray hack. It has over 1 million downloads so it is pretty popular. However, I haven't really seen this plugin on too many servers. The reason for this is because Orebfuscator creates A LOT of lag. Thus, server owners don't really want to add this in. There is NO chance you will get banned from this as it doesn't pick up the hack. It just prevents it.
How to check if a server has this: Just turn on your X-ray. All you'll see is tonnes and tonnes or precious ores.
Anti X-Ray
Anti X-Ray basically prevents you from mining a certain blocks (eg. diamond ore) too frequently. It doesn't ban, it just prevents it.
How to check if a server has this: Type /antixray help You will get a message saying: "You have no permission for that". If you get this message similar to this it means the server has it.
Fight Against Server Staff
There is no real way of bypassing this. If the staff member is experienced then you may be lucky (I'll explain why I said that below), if the staff member is un-experienced/absuive, you may just get banned. I'll act out some very common scenarios I've seen. Usually you won't really be caught for using things like, FullBright, ESP, Tracer, Minimap etc. Its usually the combat hacks which get players banned.
Note: If you are using combat hacks, make sure you bind that hack to a key. So as soon as you kill someone, you quickly toggle the hack off. Only toggle the hack on once you are near a player/the right time. I cannot tell you how many times I went invisible > went behind the hacker > and the hacker started attacking me. In saying this, always have PlayerESP's enabled.
Accusing of hacking in chat
Make sure you do NOT become cocky/rude to either staff/player you killed. Being on someones bad side won't help you and could even get you banned. Also do not admit you are hacking, so many people do in onr way or another.
Reported On The Server's Forums
Most servers usually have a section where they can report users. Whether it be a public or private report.
Note: Screenshots are the most popular report and video reports are quiet rare.
In saying all this I'm not guaranteeing you that you won't be banned, but you have a greater chance of not being banned. I'll update this page as I think of more to write again.

Screenshot Report
If the player reporting you has a screenshot of you "hacking". Then there isn't really much the Staff can do. UNLESS you become cocky and say it in chat. Its a very common mistake. So if you are/aren't using hacks, don't get too cocky about it. It will most likely favor against you.
The only thing that can be reported via a screenshot is spamming and advertising.

Video Report
If the player reporting you has a video of you "hacking". Then is a more of a chance of you getting banned. It just depends on what hacks you were using.
Common hacks reported:
Key: Underline = Usually doesn't work on servers. So you can't even use them.
Fly: Easy to identify
Unpushable/No knockback: Easy to identify
TriggerBot/ForceField/ClickAimBot/BowAimBot/AimBot: Depends on the situation, some are easy, some are harder to notice
Critical: Easy to identify
God Mode/Regen: Depends on the situation. If you are just AFK and a player is attacking you, and you aren't dying. Its easy, but if you're in a fight, then its hard to identify
Nuker: Easy to identify
XRay: Easy to identify
ESP: Hard to identify
Common hacks reported:
