Paypal charge back (halp pls)

I was selling a knife on cs:go, and like an idiot. I used paypal. I was selling the knife for 88 dollars and he sent me the money so I was like this guy is legit etc, sent him the knife and I instantly pored the money into steam and bought keys(Unboxed a flip knife doppler yay me..) going off topic a little bit, but it turns out the next day that the buyer charged back as it was an "unauthorized" payment. And now I'm -88 dollars in the hole, and screw paying that back, not just because I don't have the money because i'm 15, but because I've done nothing wrong, not only have I lost my valuable item, but also 88 dollars. What will paypal do if I dont pay back?

Is the dispute still open? Or did it already close and the 'scammer' got his money back. If it is still open, you can just should some screenshots of your messages and the steam trade that you gave him.

you are screwed, same thing happened to me. You did a sale of a virtual item and that is not covered by paypal seller protection. I assume he sent as family and friends because he did an unauthorized payment, that also means that paypal won't side with you because you sold an item. Honestly, the best thing is to learn and move on. Sorry that you got scammed.

I would call Paypal and talk to them. Send whatever information you can and hope for the best.

If the money was taken without a dispute, then the person paid with a credit card and charged back through the credit card company. Nothing you can do about it. If the dispute is open and you are allowed to respond, do so with what ever proof you can provide. Also do a search for the person's handle and/or email and see if you can figure out which forums he might be on, so you can post proof on that forums and get him banned.

Also, do us all a favor, and provide the proof here, with what ever info you have, so someone in the future can use said info to ensure they don't get scammed as well.

I think the best question to ask here is, HOW DO I PREVENT a chargeback.

They'll try taking it out of your bank so cancel that and ring them tell them you're 15 and cant be held accountable to a debt and close your account

Also take this lesson for next time (happened exactly same to me). Also, just take a few screenshots of chats/trade and send it to Papyal you might win the dispute.
It doesn't mean in 100% he'll win also, sometimes the dispute takes so long so the scammer gives up.

RIP You, that happened to me but my friend hacked the dude with those funky link things and we found his Facebook and messaged his mother. So she paid it all back. Try copying and pasting his PayPal email into the Facebook search thingy. You may be able to find him.
