I have photoshop CS4 im new to it.
Can anyone tell me how to make details like lines and stuff like the Gears Of war one in my sig?

make a checkerboard pattern using a pencil, then save it as a pattern preset.

make a new thing 4 px x 4 px, greyscale, default pixels per inch, etc. THen,zoom in to the maximum(should be like 3000x, then get out your pencil( click and hold the brush icon, and then a bar should come out., click on the one that looks like a pencil) and put your size to pixel, then start coloring in like a zigzag pattern.

Then, goto EDIT->Define Pattern (if its not showing, click show all menu items.). THen press enter twice(methinks) and you're done.

Alright, since I made that one, I thought it might be fitting to say how.

first off, I have never made/used a pattern and probably never will, I don't see how they could possibly improve a sig.

The lines in that sig were actually accidentally put in by a C4D, this one:
