Visual studio community is laggy?
Hi Mpgh-ians,

Is it normal that it takes a full 30 seconds just to load the program?

I have an i3-6100 with an 5200rpm hdd.
Mine's takes less than 20 seconds.

I've an SSD though.
Holy cow. We live in 2016, why do you have an 5200 rpm HDD?!
Those SSD are getting pretty cheap now...

But yeah VSC15 has not the best performance.
Try VS10 or VS12. You can find keys for the professional versions here in this section I think.

What's the main differences other than the year's number?

It's actually 7200rpm hdd. But it's still slow...
I am a college student

EDIT: added the explanation on my slow HDD

Those are diffrent builds. So performance decreased with the newer verions, probably because of the growth of processing power.
Dont use Visual Studio 2015 yeah its als up to ur drive but yes this version is laggy.
As others have mentioned your limiting reagent is your SSD. Upgrade it for an overall better experience.

When Dave be grave digging.

And fuck vs 2015. IMO it does nothing but cause problems. Vs 2013 ftw.

Have you tried 2017? I recently migrated all of my C++ projects, and I must say it has improved a tremendous amount in terms of speed.
