Read name and SteamID?
Trying to read player names and steam ids. As the title states.
Obviously this isn't done thru the entity list, or csPlayerResource. So how is it done? Some pseudo code would be appreciated.

I read on another forum this can be done thru the radar struct. I have no idea what that is. I have never messed with radar anything, nor do i see a radar struct in the offsets thread.

Thanks in advance guys.
If we look into a public Source Code from Teamgamerfood or Marc's SimpleBase we can find some Functions like:

player_info_t CBaseEntity::GetPlayerInfo( )
{
player_info_t pinfo;
I::Engine->GetPlayerInfo( this->index, &pinfo );
return pinfo;
}

std::string CBaseEntity::GetName( )
{
return this->GetPlayerInfo( ).name;
}

maybe thats what you need, you can do the same with the SteamID. I hope i did help you a bit if not tell me for which Funtion u need the Player names maybe i can help you better then!

PS: Sorry for bad London im from Bavaria

Appreciate you trying to help man, but it didn't help me too much. You are just showing me where he calls the functions, not what they actually do lol.

Thats why i called where u can find the function so you can help yourself xD lol
To do it internally, you can do:

In the IVEngineClient class;
Code:
virtual bool                  GetPlayerInfo( int ent_num, PlayerInfo *pinfo ) = 0;
Code:
for (int i = 1; i < SourceEngine::Interfaces::EntityList()->GetHighestEntityIndex(); i++)
{
//check for nullptr's

PlayerInfo pInfo;
Interfaces::Engine()->GetPlayerInfo(pEntity->EntIndex(), &pInfo);

printf("Name; %s \n", pInfo.szName);

}

Hope this'll help you.

Thanks bro. Should have mentioned i'm external for this one .
Iv tried doing what i have seen in several different sources but i keep getting garbage info. Perhaps the offset dumper is giving me the wrong radarbase or something. idk :/
Ah im sorry, i only know how to do this internally. Ive seen some posts on UC getting the playername externally. Take a look and gl.

yeah i looked at multiple posts there. I'm using the same methods as them and i really can not figure this one out. My entire cheat is basically done i am just adding a few aesthetic features. This is one that i had been figuring would be really simple but i just can't get it lol.

show your function with offsets

Code:
public string name;

RadarBase = vam.ReadInt32((IntPtr)Offsets.CLIENT + Offsets.dwRadarBase);//0x4EE29CC
Radar = vam.ReadInt32((IntPtr)RadarBase + Offsets.oRadarBasePointer);//0x50
name = vam.ReadStringUnicode((IntPtr)Radar + ((0x1E0 * id) + 0x24), 10);

I am reading this as unicode.
I Can't even read it through cheat engine. Perhaps my dumper is giving me wrong offsets or something? i don't know.

Also tried name = vam.ReadStringUnicode((IntPtr)Radar + ((0x1E0 * id+1) + 0x24), 10);
with no success. This is c# obv.

Really? Everywhere else i have looked says it's 50. Either way i just tried 0x54 and its returning a bunch of junk Chinese characters. Thanks for quick reply.

read as wchar_t
and how are you printing them out?

this is c#. As i said (no wchar_t). Printing them directly to a windows form on a label.

EDIT: got it to work. Don't even know what i changed. Thanks for the help man really appreciate it.
Been over a week since last update/bump after answers, assuming solved.
