i can't comprehend C++
just another thread complaining about c++

someone teach me ways to learn c++
i just can't get it, i can't put things together
Hello,
basically I suggest to buy a book, there are many of them online and you can find good prices on amazon for example.
Then what you have to do is practising! Don't look at the majority of the post in this section either; here you will find many hard codes ( not that hard. but if you are starting they will be very hard ). Look for some tutorials in the net, try out cicles, procedures, function and pointers; then learn classes and the other stuffs --> do many exercises, like taking in input a .txt file, read it, put it into an array of structures and modify that array somehow, then re-write the file.
That was just an example; of course you can't start coding stuffs in the memory if you haven't even tried the bases.
For anything pm me or add me in Skype, I will be happy to help till I can.

Yes. A huge part of getting good at programming is to keep writing new programs and keep challenging yourself to learn something new.

If you're struggling for ideas you can go to reddit.com/r/dailyprogrammer

i feel like their programs are hard. when you say write new programs, aside from reddit. where do you get ideaas?

Just random small projects are a good start. Shitty command line calculator, something that opens a file and displays contents to he console, take some input and encrypt it by doing some basic math to it, then write something that does the opposite to decrypt it.

You can also follow along with YouTube tutorials and they will have examples usually too.

For example, this is a good thing to do ( in my opinion ):
~ Open Notepad ~
~ Mentally divide your new file in the part:
FIRST_ONE SECOND_ONE THIRD_ONE
FIRST_ONE: this will be the name of a guy ( random );
SECOND_ONE: this will be the name of the departure train station;
THIRD_ONE: this will be the name of the arrival train station.
Write 10-15 lines ( always with the same format I explained ), repeating the same 2-3 names. ~
~ Now count how many times single guy has done a trip.
{ to do this, you might need a new array } ~

With this exercise you surely have to learn how to open-->read a .txt file and how to fill an array of structures with the details gotten from the file; then I suggest to use functions/procedures, in order to get used to them, because they are a main part of the programmation.

However in two or three hours I will create a post on this sections with some example for who starts coding like you.

Hoping to be useful

all theses examples sounds too hard for me. You're listing them like easy pz.
Its all learning. First figure out how to start a program, then google how go take input from a user, then how to use basic math operations.

You need to learn to break a problem down into smaller problems and solve them that way. You can also watch YouTube tutorials if you need someone to step you through each step.
write up some data structures. Play around with stacks,queues,linked lists and learn how they work. Try make a simple calculator using reverse polish notation
Why don't you try the free c++ tutorial at caveofprogramming.com , he'll also give u some tasks to do after every video probably
start simple, learn how to write code to print out simple (hard coded) sentences.

then start learning how to enter data into integer/string variables (taking user input using cin/cout) and performing operations on them (add/subtract or take input string and print it)

now you're ready to learn about if statements and loops (for/while loops)

after that learn to make a basic function to do those basic tasks for you

at that point i'd say you're gonna wanna learn pointers (those are extremely important) literally everything you're gonna do moving in into c++ is based on pointers.

after you get the general concept of how pointers work do the same 3 steps again, but with pointers. write a simple program, simple operations and a simple function.

at that point you've got all the basics down, next step would probably be to learn how to write classes, those can get a little complicated but there are many tutorials on youtube than could help you with that.

after classes you've pretty much got the basics down and at that point you're gonna wanna learn some data structures (linked lists/stacks/queues / array lists/(maybe) trees)

hopefully i didn't miss anything out of the basics, i'll edit with updates if i remember anything
If you want a wrote some exercises and I can help you ( everyone ) with the solutions if needed. Moreover if you find my thread useful I can also write other easy excersises like those ones; hoping to be useful -->
