Let's exploit Hotels/Expedia
Hey!

So apparently, these guys (same company actualy) have caught on and they have some kind of system that triggers cracked accounts and cancels nights.

I have been using this a lot and am kind of upset right now like all of you are so we should bring some words together to find out what triggers the system to understand that the booking is fraudulent

What did I try?

1) Not changing the email. Logging in to the account, email bombing it as i do the reservation.
2) Changing the email , bombing owner's email and booking.
3) Doing one of the above but also using a VPN on account owner's country.
4) Make the booking with a phone call instead of using the website.

All of these got my bookings cancelled.
If i made 10 bookings in the last 3 days 9 of them got cancelled.

What do you guys have in hand? Any theories?
I don't have any theories. but imho it's not safe to use hotels.com anymore :P
looks for another company, right now i am making configs for each hotel

Stop using them lol
Just stop using them, not worth the risk.
It's jusy not worth the risk anymore unfortunately.
What about Hyatt? Hova sells them are they safe?
what about booking and check-in at the same time....?
Hyatt works when it works. I've used Hyatt successfully previously. Definitely made me nervous. You use a credit card to book the room then whip out your gift card during check out. You must have a deposit equal to the cost of your stay. I didn't have the $600ish in my last trip and they wouldn't check me in. I was expecting a small credit card hold or something but no lol

One guy says he was stopped at a Hyatt that wouldn't take the digital cards without a pin. That would be my fear. But as for my experience, it all worked. They had my credit card on file but never charged me and I even earned points for the night.

Although you could probably find a cheaper full price hotel than a Hyatt at 70% off if savings is your goal. Hyatts are high.
