What is a refund service?
Hi

I've joined and am confused at the amount of threads about a refund service but none actually explaining what it is, how it works and what the risks are.
There's also so many terms that don't make sense like 'drop' 'doxing' 'SE'. What does this all mean!??

thanks

A refund service is a service in which the cost of the item(s) you purchased are refunded to you, as if you never bought the items at all, while being able to keep the items. The typical process you want to follow for pursuing this that I recommend is as follows:

1. Contact a refunder and ask if the item you want to refund is possible (if not specifically outlined in their thread).
2. Purchase and order the item
3. Wait until the item is delivered
4. Contact the refunder to complete the refund, providing the necessary information which differs site to site.

Now, the risks are obvious. Refunding an item is fraud in and of itself however the reason that refunding is possible is because it's plausible. All of the reasons and methods refunders use are public here on MPGH but not everyone is well equipped to talk to the representatives on the phone and actually social engineer them to get the refund done in a safe and elegant way. In my analysis: there is no risk given how many items are ordered each day, how big the shipping industry is and the plausibility of packages not arriving, coming empty or the item itself coming broken. These reasons are what refunders use to get the refund and the companies have policies in place to compensate their buyers for this because if they didn't, they would get sued.

A drop is an address that isn't yours. Typically, people use foreclosed houses, houses going up for sale or generally empty houses to deliver the package to so that you, the buyer, are not attached to the refund in the event you are billed. A very small amount of refundable companies actually bill but for the more risky companies the refunders will recommend a drop address as a precaution.

'DOXING' has nothing to do with SE, don't worry about it and if you see anyone talking about it report the post.

'SE' is the acronym for 'social engineering'. Social engineering is a very large topic that I would probably bore you with so instead I'll link you to our SE forum and you can read the stickies and surmise what SEing is yourself. http://www.mpgh.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=670
Thanks that's helpful. The only thing I'm still not clear about is step 4, what does the person providing refund service actually do? How are they completing the refund? Or are they just talking the buyer through what to do?

They talk to the company on your behalf to get you (the buyer) a refund.

you order the product, wait till it comes, they ask for some person info like order number, name, billing info, shipping info, phone number. things to verify that makes the reps think they are actually talking to you. if its signed for they say empty box (depending on size of the package). if its not they wait a few days call them up and say hey it never came. boom they refund you, (as they think its lost or stolen), and you get your money back to your form of payment method. Also, if you need someone to do the refund on here my personal favorites of the 3 best refunders on here are @Wyo, @bdog21, and @dkton. now their are other refunders out their but I personally think these are the best 3 out their. everyone else says this is ok. But these three are pretty good!
Grateful for any clarification on the above?
Thanks final 2 questions I think.

So you have to give a refunder your credit card details?

Are you expected to use someone else's address for delivery or your own home address?

We dont ask credit card details, you can ship to your home or friend or family home (most common is your own home normally). We just need the details of the order (name, email, order number, address etc.) the same day of delivery or a few days after then we will keep you updated through all the process.

You should also look into refunding for yourself, some of the stores being refunded are simple to do.
Sorry to bump an old thread but also have a few questions as someone who is potentially interested in using a refund service for the first time.

I see a lot of services for the US but not much for the UK. Is it because there is a higher risk? If the refund fails, can I simply send back the goods to get a refund?
