He may know how to program snake, but he sure isnt' good at it.

It's made to be simple and fast, you're acting like his goal was to make a full-sized meal to a whole family

What does a good 5 min snake programmer look like?

He's just familiar with his references. What makes a programmer good or not is their capacity to problem solve. This guy wasn't problem solving, he knew exactly what he was doing.

Still though, if I knew exactly what I was supposed to do, I'd still be slow as fucc.

Even though he talked through it and explained what he was doing, I still have no idea what was going on. I should probably learn to programme.

No he prob didn't prepare for it. He showed he knew exactly what code was for the Arrow keys, and he knew a lot of other stuff off the top of his head. As far as references and syntax goes he knew everything

The real amazing part is he probably did all these calculations on the fly in his head. Typically your regular programmer is going to have to do mental loops to design the game, he's really good at logical thinking.

Lol I was following along pretty well. I've never watched someone else code before, he reminded me of my self when I know what I'm doing.
