click start>>type dxdiag in the search box
press enter
click display
make sure that these 3 boxes are ticked:
DirectDraw acceleration
Direct3D acceleration
AGP textures acceleration
that should work, if not it is most likely that you need to upgrade your directx and your video card drivers.

do what they said up date your driver and if that dont work your video card sucks and you should probably get a new one
