PC Parts Refund (partial)

I'm gonna be ordering a bunch of PC parts from various websites. Multiple parts are from newegg. I want to refund the most expensive part. If I just say I received everything except the one thing and try to get a partial refund, will it go smoothly?

Depends on cost but they might open investigation and carrier come to house, happened to a lot of people with newegg

In the UK this doesn't work as all the PC shops have CCTV in their packaging warehouses.
