What? Incredibly old buildings eventually falling apart or being destroyed accidentally?
I mean yeah it can be sad, but it's completely inevitable.

While true, history falls apart even more through its bastardization and severely crippled place in education. Buildings are nice to marvel at, but they teach little and eventually crumble through time. Romanticizing the past through a pointed perspective of only its achievements and sanitized of its failures is a disservice to the history itself. For every self important structure erected by kings, popes and emperors are a million shanty towns and a million workers that made humanity's 'achievements' possible.
wait so it was under renovation... and thats what caused the fire?

thats tough

It stood 800+years
I won't pretend to be upset since the Notre Dame didn't really mean much to me. Still, it's sad to see something of value burn like that; someone's in big trouble.
Lol rip whoever the insurance company is, or if the fire was intentional then rip those people.

Is there a confirmed cause of the fire yet?

the irony really shows itself here

just imagine being the worker that accidentally set it on fire
Oh crap. That is very very sad. I am so sad. I won't be able to sleep tonight. : (

All the catholic priest are feeling sad that they won't be able to use this building for their pedophile acts. : (
Its a shame that such an old and beautiful building had to be destroyed.
