Intel or AMD?
Hello!
I am one of the people who have been using Intel for their whole life on their computers/laptop. I have never used an AMD PC before. But I find it weird how AMD CPUs are double the cores/threads than Intel ones and are much cheaper. So I'm really unsure about which to buy.
I planned a while ago on upgrading my PC to a 8th gen MOBO (cause the one I have supports 6th/7th) with an i3-8100 cpu which would satisfy my needs. Some people however recommended me to get AMD Ryzen 5 2600 with a B450 M

I just need my PC to play a couple games which aren't very high-end, such as Apex Legends. And calling with people on ******* at the same time and that's pretty much what my maximum would be. I'm not going to edit videos or use Autodesk apps or such stuff. Just a little gaming.
Going to add my old GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with it.

Thanks for reading all this, your opinion would be really appreciated.

edit: just seen a thread about this but people seem to have different opinions, so i would prefer more clarification on which one is the best for gaming

I think Intel is best for gaming.
Although AMD has better options for better prices, I think what happens is people don't trust those cheaper prices. Intel imo has better quality in their cpus.
I am currently using an Intel i7 7700k, it works very well when gaming. I play Apex Legends and Rainbow Six Siege.
When I used to play Fortnite, I would get eliminated and spectate my friends. While they would be finishing the game, i would open another game and play while I waited. The game I would open was a smaller, less big game called Brawlhalla. It has 2d graphics and doesn't need much of ur cpu/ram, but it still amazes me that I can run two games at once with this cpu. Ram probably also is a big factor in that, but I have 16gb.
So yea, i think intel is better for gaming. It really goes down to preference, I think.

Intel is still solid. They have more money than AMD so they can continue pumping out good cpus. I'm using a 6 core i7 8700k. Things' a super beast.

If you just do gaming 100%, intel is probably the way to go. If you do literally anything else with your pc, get a ryzen 5 3600 or something. it has a much higher performance for workstation and a better outlook for future games with it's more cores.

if those are your choices then the AMD build is a no brainer
the 8100 is in every way inferior to the 2600
although id def recommend going with the latest generation and getting a 3600

Choose the best offer when you are buying. Whether AMD or Intel both are good !
When you choose AMD take min. ryzen 3000 series or on Intel intel i5 (k)

I don't want that high 6-core cpu, a 4-core would do just great for my needs. So you recommend 2600?

Amd is Ok nowadays tbh. Really depends on your budget.

I'm a Intel fanboy and still have to say that AMDs current lineup is simply cheaper and better than Intel.

Depends on what you're doing. For pure gaming, intel would be the better choice. If you're also doing some form of content creation, a ryzen processor would be the better option. Generally AMD is better for the mid range price point.
