A Very Bad Problem

I'm getting this problem with playing Combat Arms. When I'm playing for a while, My screen turns black but I still hear guns shooting. Then I can't do anything so I turn it off. Then I restart it and it's having startup problems. It shuts down on me. I do this multiple times and it shuts off repeatedly. I leave it for a while, then It starts perfectly but it tells me to Repair Startup Problems(recommended) or Start Windows normally. I repair it and it takes at least an hour. Soon after, my computer is then very(10x) slow. I click somwthing and it lags. After several hours, it becomes slightly faster. I used my antivirus to see if I have viruses. None. I play Combat Arms again and it happens again.

I do it all again. Irritated, I soon uninstalled Combat Arms. I am no longer interested in playing if this happens. Can someone pleas help me with this problem, maybe? Thank you for taking the time to read my problem.

You need to update your Graphics Card/Driver.

reinstall windows.

Sounds like you got to much crap running at once.

run msconfig and change your star up stuff and do what v1kash said also.

Maybe try reinstalling CA also.

Hmmm... Tough call, first off, PC PITSTOP after that, monitor your CPU fan speed and temp.

Sounds like an over heating problem at first, but can't be sure.

there is CPU monitoring software out there, find it , post results after about 30 mins or so.

Go to
Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager
Then update your drivers..

Yeah, once it shuts off on me, its fucking hot as hell. Burned myself.

It could very well be over heating, It really sounds like a heating issue.

Most computers have a protection feature which basically works with If then logic.

If ambient heat or component heat is > XXXXXX then Shut off Computer.

I would really run some tests .

Monitor CPU and Memory with some 3rd part applications.

Make sure the CPU fan is staying on.
Check the "Silver Cool" , "Arctic Silver" [Thermal transfer compound] and be sure it is not burnt.
If you are familiar enough with computers and thier components, check for minute hairline fractures in the CPU and look for "Popped" Capacitors which may have leaked any of the numerous non conductive components.

a straight shut down maybe board related.

All this sounds extensive, but some of these can prevent long term damage.
IE: if it is a overheating problem it could be

Fan Off[not working] causing extreme ambient heat. Need to apply arctic silver to allow more efficient cooling with your CPU heatsink.

It could be a video card problem as well, but usually Video / Standard hardware issues cause a BSOD orior to crash.

Mind getting specs of your computer?

CPU TJMax is usually around 90-95 or even 100 for more durable models. GPU should not go over 90. If any of those critical limits are hit, the computer would automatically shut down.

Play a less intensive game or lower your graphics settings and monitor your CPU temperature with SpeedFan... (SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer)

Also open up your computer to see if your thermal paste has dried up and needs replacement. Check for airflow problems (eg: see if fan is spinning, clear up heatsink of lint and clear up fan from dust).

Check if your PC meets minimum requirements for CA. (Can You Run It)

Still run some tests CPU gets hot quickly, and a computer in a desk or corner can prevent fans from exausting the ambient heat. Try to get to the root of the problem, and that is somewhat with some software and time to monitor, also for testing purposes do the test where it is and do the test and monitoring again while your computer is away from the wall

My laptop's fan is covered by the wall.

O-o , Laptop? Elevate off desk, turn it on, run it elevated (for proper cooling) , run a benchmark, see if it gets hot, monitor your cpu temp with software.

If it crashes, most likely not over heating from being against the wall and blocking the exhausted ambient heat.

Laptops by nature can get really hot, similar to the reasons a Phone can (esp I-phone [IMO]) .

If it doesn't crash , then get some compressed air, and clean out all vents, continue testing, but do some actual tests, I have yet to see any attempts, run the tests and software suggested, post results.
