The Death Penalty Ending?

Two days ago, Italy Proposed a Resolution in the United Nations, under the Declaration of Human Rights, to end the Death penalty, something they have been trying to do for twenty years. This Resolution was passed, which will supposedly end the Death penalty. The United States feels that its Sovereignty is being violated, and will not comply with the Resolution. Many other countries are the same way, but the Resolution was passed, do you think that this was a good thing to pass? Do you think this could turn into a bad Situation if the United Stats does not carry-out the Resolution? Will this work?

The death penalty is stupid. For two reasons.

1. If someone in your family was killed by a killer, would you rather the killer die in five years. Or have him rot away in prison for 30 years.

2. If the law says not to kill people. Then why are we killing people. Its
hypercritical.

well the citizens have wanted it for a few decades now, and our laws are dumb enough as it is. last week, these two kids attacked some guy at a party with a hatchet, and now he is in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. how much time do they get? 3 months. they fucked up that guys life, and they get 3 months in juvenile, where its not all that bad. its just sad, canada needs to step it up

A couple decades isn't really forever. Not even a century.
I'm Canadian and don't really want the penalty to exist here, but I wouldn't mind it on Pickton.

Oh shit now that the US isn't accepting this resolution I feel World War III coming on...

Just ban the Death Penalty. All civilised countries have abdicated from that, even Portugal. Lighten up.
