Well, Weed is bad, For ur lungs and stuff. There is nothing safe about smokeing/popping/shooting drugs.
And yes, Painkillers are addictive. You get so addicted to them you can't stop takeing them, Then you take more and more till eventully you O.D.

Tell me how the smoke within the drug, which is full of far more then just oxygen reaches the lungs. How does it have no effect, that doesn't make any sense.

I'm not saying an occasional smoke will ruin your life and lungs, but if it becomes a constant thing, you could ruin yourself.

Regardless if it has any physical effects, if you take it at a bad time, then you do not have control over yourself.
