Hey im 15 and started programming visual basic about a year ago. I've been looking at courses in programming and various jobs in the area of programming do you think that visual basic is a good language to carry on learning and if so do you have any tips on how i can advance to a much higher level than i am at currently.
Or would i be better of sticking to learning c++, java, c# or any other language.
Do you have any advice on jobs i should look at and how i could get into any of them?

C++ Is where you need to go, if you plan on a career, you need to learn C, C# and C++

As for reasons, C++ is what every major MMOG ( EVE, WoW, Global Agenda, etc.) is codded in. C# is good for web sites and win apps. Python and objective C are other good options if you want to make a career out of coding. Python for gaming and Objective C for iPhone apps.
Simple is simple, Posters in this thread are inexperienced.
C# and VB.NET use the same set of Framework Base Class Libraries, Real difference is in the Syntax, so to propose C# "over" vb is just naive.
The fact is, the industry that calls for development is the large business, large markets and alike.
you can be a .NET architect with vb.net and make as much if not more money developing applications in vb.net like the ever growing and always sought after databased business applications.
So really, it is a matter of what you want to do. But t o even suggest that there is no room for development in career other then a C++/c or C# developer is just silly
C# and VB both are used as a code behind with asp and asp.net for web based applications.
(note and VB)
Both can be used with WPF as a browser application/native application.
You can create Iphone applications with mono and .net
or use HTML5/css
Ruby is a better scripting language for gaming.(just another note)
If you want to be a developer.

Well an opinion is an opinion. If you are that stuck up about trolling to try and find mistakes and errors in what people say then you need to go. I am entitled to say what ever I please, be it about code or how much of a life you are lacking. As a mod you should allow me to express my opinion without calling me or anyone else "inexperienced". You sir need to go outside more than just for school and make some real friends and gtfo the damn computer.

Not really, you haven't been around this section, or MPGH enough to form a opinion about my attitude. 99% of the users here like me, and know I help as much as possible.

In all the time I've been on this forum i have not once seen NextGen get angry, the only reason you are getting angry is because you are frustrated that he is right and you are wrong, and that will never change.
