Hey everyone! I just recently started my 3D Foundations class at college (I'm going for a Game Art degree) and am learning Maya 2011 on Mac, but it is a lot more difficult than I had expected. Anyone have any tips, or sites I can use to get some help or tutorials? Anything is appreciated.
Everything I learned about 3D graphics I learned from YouTube. That's probably your best place to start, but the tutorials are very specialized.
If you want the basics, Autodesk probably has something on their website.

Thanks. I'll definitely try that. And youtube. Lol.

Talk to Lonesome Cowboy. I know how to use it, but I really can't explain it. He's good though. He has tutorials too. Look at the stickies.

Well, Lonesome's tutorials are in 3Ds max, zombtastic here is using Maya
I myself am a 3Ds man, so I can only give some really vague stuff, like "YouTube"
Sigh.. the best people could offer is google?
I'll send you a PM with a link to some good tutorials. It should be enough for you if you know the basics of the interface and simple mesh editting (which I assume were covered in your course).
Im gunna learn Maya soon. =/ I haven't gotten time to get to it yet though but i want to.

Yes, were in the process of going over that now, thanks.
I'll definitely go over them.

3DS Max, and Maya, is almost the same.
(I mean the engine, user-interface, and other main things). There are only some changes, but at beginner level it doesn't make a difference.
most game development classes are made to screw u... here in holland we have one of the more difficult ones... like 2000 enter and after first semster like 500 survive at most in the end 20 tops.
i went to my school too for game development but it seems it doesnt support it anymore though it also can be directed towards more things... wich will return to game development

Yeah I have heard that as well. That Maya was basically 3DS for Mac, but I never looked into. But I suppose I shall. It can't hurt.
