How to make skins

IF IT IS JUST A LINK TO A PIC IT IS BECAUSE THE PIC IS TOO BIG! SO IT WONT COVER UP THE WOLE THREAD

How to make skins, install them to css and upload onto FPS Banana.

1) well 1st u need the right programs. Here's what you need:

a) An image editing program, the most popular seems to be photoshop, but if you're too stingy to pay you can use others.

(if you do have photoshop get the VTF plugin)


*Note* you need winzip for this

b) GCFscape you will need this

*NOTE* you must exit steam before running GCFscape as it will not work.

c)VTF edit (if you have photoshop and the VTF plugin this isn't necessary).

================Now we can start==============

1)open GCFscape and go file > open and then C:drive/programfiles/valve/steam/steamapps/counter-strike source shared

2)then still using GCFscape open cstrike/materials and choose whatever skin you would like to edit, for this tut it will be gloves which is located in cstrike/materials/models/weapons/hands/ the extract the .vtf file (make sure it isn't the reference file) to your desktop for easy access.

IF YOU HAVE PHOTOSHOP

you can directly open the file and from there edit it.

when you are done make sure there is only 1 layer (layer > merge visible) and then save it as a .VTF ( another box might come up just press ok).

IF YOU DON'T HAVE PHOTOSHOP

*some boxes might appear when you import or export just click ok to all of them*

open the file you have extracted with VTF edit.

extract it as a .bmp (file > extract)

now u can edit the file with any program.

edit it and then save.

now you must open VTF edit and click file > import and find your skin.

then go file > save as > v_hands

*only name it v_hands if it is the hands you are editing*



Now you have the edited file sitting wherever you saved it. go to my computer and go C:drive/programfiles/valve/steam/steamapps/ACCOUNT NAME/counter-strike source/cstrike/materials/models/weapons/hands

*this is where you should put the v_hands.vtf file you have just edited*

you just make the folders as you go along if you don't already have them.

Now when you play css you will hands that look like whatever you made them look like.

2.Take a screenshot or video of the skin.
3.Upload it and give credits

Yes,That i what I did. I didnt see a skin tut here so i thought "WTH" I gave credits to the guy who made it.
