I see alot of people asking where they can find various iwi files from the iwi_**.iwd files. I have found a dead easy way of finding them with a simple click of a button which I'm sure will reduce the time wasted searching for them.
1. Open a random iwd from your main folder.
2. Press the Up button to show the main folder inside WinRAR.
3. Click on the Find button.
4. Type in a keyword like ak47 remembering to put stars at the start and end for a wildcard search in the File names to find box. Then, hit OK.
5. Voila, enjoy your results.
Note for all you 7-Zip and Pakscape fans, file searching inside file archives is not possible!
If this does not work for you, make sure you have done the following:
Open WinRAR > Options > Settings > Integration then add *.iwd into the 'User defined archive extensions' box.

you uploaded ur sig to your fb..oh hai!
EDIT: if you try searching as all the iw_xx in general you will find a much more detailed search, rather than 1 number aka iw_11..etc..
now just make ur own tool which would search IWI's yaay

uhm, that's what this does and *facepalm* I said who I was in the friend request.
I was thinking about writing another guide like I did for MW2, but I'm still prying through the files myself. If someone wanted to help I would be more than happy to.
not sure if im doing something wrong or not... but when i do find and type in *ak47* or any other type of object/gun that would be contained in an iwd file nothing comes up for the results, winrar doesn't even seem as though it had searched for them and i can't understand why...

just go into any iw for example Iw_11 then try the find option..
if the tutorial option doesn't work.
hmmm, that's strange.
yea, thats what i've been doing, but it would be nice to do it the other way, since its less time consuming...lol
but, its better than nothin!
Maybe it's because you haven't properly associated WinRAR with iwd files because it seems that all you did was: Right-click > Open With... > WinRAR > Always associate.
The correct method is:
Open WinRAR > Options > Settings > Integration then add *.iwd into the 'User defined archive extensions' box.

I could imagine a lot of people dont go through all that. Right Click>Open with is the standard, and 99% of people probably do that.
You might want to add it to the OP to clear some confusion.
