Today I was playing minecraft and I hit bedrock in so I go mining left and I see my first diamond. I mine the first one and theres a huge pool of lava and destorys 2/4.

it was behind the wall he mined and maybe he was close, and the lava ate it. But what im wondering if you have any blocks you coulda repatched the hole and the lava woulda have went away saving your diamond ores in time.

I think he means that when he mined, there was lava below, and when he mined the diamonds, the lava suddenly was there, and he couldn't catch them in time /

Ok the diamond ore was on the wall and I mined it and the lava was directly behind it. I wasn't expecting lava and I was celebrating but I see your point

its always best to clear the are first before retreaving a valuable resource. I should know that happpen to me once and i fell into lava when i accidently walked out on a block and died -_-.
