I have been testing Visual Lightswitch since it's original beta release, and honestly, it has been a blast.
If your looking to develop Desktop or Cloud Commercial grade applications with ease using C# or Vb, then I have to be the first to post here and say, You should test it.
The IDE is a lot more simplistic then that of your typical IDE's , Layouts are pretty much static (though can be modified, but honestly, I don't see a need for it).
Adding components are easy but different then your traditional methods of drag and drop (instead you use a combo box and tree view to place in a specific layer)
Beta is out and has been for a while, if you have not downloaded it and tried it yet, go ahead. Here is the link.
Kevin (our resident database expert) should love this application, it allows you to seamlessly connect to a new or existing database and create both web and desktop applications which are completely professional and scalable (for future technology) . (more features added after beta, including web applications) .
If your a C# developer or VB developer I strongly recommend this download, if not for production, then solely to become familiar with the system, as I personally see a great future for this.
If you have downloaded it and tried it, Or if you download it and try it today, please reply with your thoughts and opinions.

Sounds gay.
Ill stick with my good old C#
To each his own .
This is not for someone who favors drag and drop, nor is it a replacement IDE for VS developers, it is for developers who know C# or VB (as the languages used in the application development, similar to the concept of Asp.net) to develop cloud or desktop applications (primarily commercial database applications) with ease.
Do not look at it as a replacement to C#, but as a completely separate (which it is) development environment for Business (commercial grade) applications which utilizes C# and VB.
If I was asked to create (let's say) a EMR system for a hospital or doctors office, I can either A. Develop this application with asp.net or vb.net or whatever and spend time developing a UI and the database structure along with the coding itself . or B. Utilize the preset layouts, ease of database manipulation and structures and focus on the code itself, saving time and energy.
In the commercial development field, this is a HUGE asset. (IMO)
The whole cloud computing thing sounds great, Cloud Computing is where it's at nowadays.
My whole Schoolboard has switched to Google Docs already, as has some law firms here in Canadia as well.
I can see this becoming very popular in the future.

Agreed, Cloud computing is going to be even bigger in the near future, just one more example of innovation.
meh, any good for a POS system?
hmmm, yes and no, it will handle the database great, and you can build on it obviously , however, I feel the layout is more suited for large businesses then retail or sales.
Stick with vb.net, creating a great POS should be easy.
