Hack DET Laptops

Hi guys,

I worked out a way to "hack" the Australian DET laptops. Use your HOME PC for the following steps, not the school laptop.

1. Plug in a USB Flash Drive with at least 2GB of space.
2. Download Ubuntu 10.10.
3. Download and run the USB Installer.
4. Select the version of Ubuntu you will be using. (10.10)
5. Select the drive in which your USB flash drive is inserted.
6. Click install and wait about half an hour.

Now use your school laptop:
1. Plug the Flash Drive into your laptop while it is booting up.
2. Now open task manager and click on processes tab.
3. Right click and then click "Open File Location"
4. Now you should be in C Drive. Go to Program files and delete the folder called something similar to "Bluecoat Proxy"
5. Now you should be able to access any site on the internet.

NOTE: Sometimes the school will do checkups on your laptop so all you do is remove the flash drive and reboot before handing it in. This means it loads Windows instead of Ubuntu. Ubuntu will be loaded whenever you have the Flash drive plugged in and therefore the sites are all un-blocked.

, Ubuntu might have the c drive automatically avaliable (no need for task manager....)

I got them in Year 7 because I was in selective. /me

i'm lucky because i got a mac laptop from school and my school doesn't block websites.

I got my mac in year 7 for free, now since i'm in year 8 they giving me a new mac.

I got one of the new laptops.

I just got one of the brand new ones (dual core celeron + intel gma hd) and half-life 2 ran and completed like a charm. Brilliant game. I am about to try your way of getting onto the web properly (im downloading ubuntu). I will post back on if it works or not. Plus i'm in a selective SCHOOL and I still didn't get mine till this year. Nonetheless, it is still a great laptop and am looking forward to borderlands.

my school also doesnt block anything. only the cmd, which we all know how to get to anyways.
