Bad thunderstorm

So I live near the SF bay area, and it really wasnt supposted to rain this week but I believe due to the tsunami we are having a HUUUGE thunderstorm
Its really really close to my house too

Could the amount of debris flying around and colliding with other things built up a lot of static electricity in the clouds above?

You, sir, are an idiot. Jk, jk, debris doesn't cause static electricity to go into the air, for the purpose youre trying to get. Only electricity that comes down is lightening. The stuff that kills, ya know? Metal attracts electricity so... Bad idea there.
