The answer is not 15.
The algebraic equation of this problem is 10 + .5x = x, x being the price.
Now let's plug in 15, shall we?
10 + 7.50 = 17.50
Does 17.50 = 15?
If you solve for x, you get 20. Plug 20 back into the problem and you get
10 + .5(20)
= 10 + 10 = 20
20 = 20
