Avast! comes to mind immediatley. Its not buisness grade AV, but it works perfectly fine for a home computer. Couple it with Spybot S&D or Malwarebytes, and do frequent scans, you should be good.

You sure its ot norton fucking things up? Norton and AVG are notorious for having bad conflict issues with other AV's, and being an enormous pain in the ass to actually uninstall.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they dont. I have a computer in the next room with 300MB of RAM in it, with windows ME and it still runs, but I had another computer that was newer, and 1Gb of RAM, and it dies not a few months after I got my hands on it.
