Sorry for being kind of a noob out here, but I would like to get to know how to create my own textures. I would love to make my own texture pack, but I don't have the knowledge of how to do it neither where can I find a tutorial that would help me to do just that. Thanks for honest answers.
Open up your minecraft.jar and extract the textures you want to use, and then edit them

Thank you, I'll try later on, I'll report to say if it worked
Use "7ZIP" and open it in achive, [Right click] and then go into MOB, then choose something like the wolf and open in paint or PS.

Don't use paint. Paint leaves a white background in your textures. If you cannot afford/don't know how to crack PS, use Paint.net or Gimp.
1. Download WinRAR
2. Go To [User] > AppData > Roaming > .minecraft > Bin
3. Right Click "Minecraft.jar"
4. Open With Winrar
5. Extract to an empty folder.
6. Delete Everything But The Following Folders and Files:
Armor - Armor
Art - Paintings
Enviorment - Clouds, Rain, and Snow. Used for Beta 1.5
Font - Font Style Used
GUI - Items and User Interface
Item - Carts, Boats and Signs
Misc - General Other Things, such as Foliage Color and Grass Color
Mob - Contains the Look of other Mobs
Terrain - Moon and Sun
Title - Mojang Symbol and Minecraft Title
Pack.png - Image of Pack in Selection Screen
Pack.txt - Description of Pack
Particles.png - Smoke, Fire, etc.
Terrain.png - Textures of Every Single Block
7. Edit the Photos using Photoshop, GIMP, or Paint.net.
8. When your finished, make a blank .ZIP file.
9. Drag the contents of the extracted-to folder into the ZIP folder.
Name the .ZIP what you want the texture pack to be named!
10. Place the ZIP file into [User] > AppData > Roaming > .minecraft > texturepacks
11. Run Minecraft and Use Pack
Notes:
-If AppData doesn't Appear, goto Search/Run, and type %AppData%, then hit enter
-Most Block Tetures Don't Support Transparency
-Lava and Water Cannot be Edited
-Leaves are Black and White in the image
Thanks, it made everything a lot clearer for me, going to make some texture packs
