Java worthwhile learning?
Hello,

is it really the pay when you learn Java?
Can you please convince me to study Java like
what are the pros and cons for it and what does it use and power?

I am really interested but I dont know if its worth it.

Do u know how to make an antivirus with Java? (a simple one, of course..)

I would like to see a tutorial about that, sounds interesting

Agree.

@Unknown-C: Well, IMHO that depends.
If you want to learn just to acquire knowledge in coding i would recommend you Smalltalk. Smalltalk its pure OO, and you can code better in Java if you learn how to make a proper code in Smalltalk. It's way easier to mess it up in Java by breaking the encapsulation, asking for the type of Class, etc.

Besides that, Java has a shitty performance and you can't interact with pointers (at least not the kind of pointers you manage in C, Java it's full of pointers but this pointers refer objects, not memory addresses) so if you are plaining to use it on game hacking, i would not recommend it at all.

But if you're plaining to get a work, well... Java can be very profitable.
LOL ,do you think that Antiviruses are easy as well to do ?

you also must to make alot of things and get hard into Http protocol , learn XMl as well and etc..

but wait , have you both used to code in another language before ?

if you really know how to code in another language, should be better to get the syntax of the sources , But if you are doing it by the first time, learn something easy before you get into Java.

antiviruses are hard to do, because you must to update it everyday.

that means you must to have alot of knowledge about programming.

try it : http://www.openantivirus.org/projects.phpⓘ

it requires time to learn Buddy, but why not do it in another language ?

Where you talking to me or Unknown and maltray?

When i said agree i was refering that it would nice to see how heuristic is implemented in Java.

Ill check that url out, I know they are hard to do because of the update, but as long as u know how they work, the update is easy...

I dont know if i wanna make an antivirus, but, im sure i wanna know how to do one, just to expand my mind.

Cheers!
Java is a very powerful language, but you can NOT hack with it.
thanks for the feedback guys
im really interested and as of now i am learning java
mpgh is really great

yeah and posted outside links aint allowed in mpgh

but thats a usefull source ya got there
I think Java is worth the time learning. It was the first programming language I learned (well, that's a lie; I learned the basics BASIC and Python beforehand), and despite what most say about it being hard to learn, I found it very easy to pick up. Sure, it can't be used to code hacks, but it is still a massively popular and widely powerful programming language. I've programmed a simple text based game in Java. It's also useful in the fact that you can make applets, which, if you know HTML well enough, can be put on a web page.
Its worth learning. Platform independence is its biggest strength. I strongly recommend it
It's a resource whore, it's a bit clunky, but it compiles into bytecode which is like...*orgasm*. The bonus of bytecode is that it is run by a JVM (java virtual machine), and all different OS's have their own version of the JVM so that Java can be run on any of them, which is awesome because your programs can be run on Mac, PC, Linux..etc.

It's a pretty easy language to pick up if you have any previous programming experience.
Depends. It has gotten some great features, such as garbage collection, which means instead of having to delete every object after use, it will automatically deal with pratically all the garbage. Ofcourse, Java is managed code, and when you get deeper into programming, or atleast get your goals for what you wanna make, I'm sure you'll realize that platform independent languages always will > platform dependent ones. Again, this all comes down to what exactly you wanna make.

You forgot the part that every OS can run Java. Even mobile OS'es. The only one that can't run it is iOS.
