How to make a skin mod in CoD4

PART 1
What you need
*IWI_x_DDS
*DDStoIWIcod4
*Skin you want to mod (we'll be using the ak47)
You can find the skins in this directory, C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main



PART 2
Convert the IWI file to dds, using the IWI_x_DDS

you will see a new skin file appear that has been converted to dds

PART 3
Open it in your photo editing program that supports DDS format, Ill be using photo-shop.

Now edit it to your desires, I made the AK silver.




PART 4
Save it, if you are editing a weapon COL file, I.E. weapon_ak_c or weapon_m4_col etc., save it as a D.X.T.1


PART 5
Once you have saved it, go to your DDStoIWI-cod4 and place you Skin DDS in their.


PART 6
Go to your CoD4 main directory (shown at the top of the tut) and rename IW_00 - IW_06 to these names


NAMES FOR IW00 - 06
IW00----> localized_english_aa.iwd

IW01----> localized_english_aab.iwd

IW02----> localized_english_aac.iwd

IW03----> localized_english_aad.iwd

IW04----> localized_english_aae.iwd

IW05----> localized_english_aaf.iwd

IW06----> localized_english_aag.iwd

Then create a NEW IWD file (I will also put a download for you if you dont know how to make an IWD file) called "localized_english_aw07.iwd", create a foldeer inside the IWD called Images, and then place that in your MAIN directory. After that, Place your modded skin into the images folder in your IWD file.

Start up cod4 and Enjoy your modded skin
this works with any skin you wish to use!
