Electron Microscope?

Does anyone know where I can buy an electron microscope?

I know some models can cost up to $10,000+
I have the funds and budget, I just need a good model.

Google ?

Why would you want one?

If it's just for casual use get a normal light one, electron microscopes go into too much detail. If you really want to see the organelle of a cell, get a job doing that.

I meant whats the use of it, if you're just interested in cells it would much more sense to just get a light microscope and if you really like that (ie don't get bored of it in 10 mins) maybe get an electron if you want to see smaller things.

well if you really want to know, I'm researching bacteriophages on my own time and as a hobby besides my regular work.
and not just phages but I'm also really interested in culturing pathogens/virus and manipulating their genomes. Electron microscopes are the only way to view them. Compound microscopes only see a small dot on the slide. :/

So basically you want to create an army of pathogens to fight other armies of pathogens, or do you want to infect people?

Look at culturing leptospires as well if you're truly that interested. I'm sure it will spark some interest when you get into it. Subculturing yields a few ml's of innoculant, though you need to keep the pH level steady.

Thanks for the suggestion! I contacted their sales team and hopefully I will get their reply soon tonight.

btw,
I have a stock culture collection that I keep in a separate refrigerator in my basement but I've had some problems with contamination of the subcultures. What method did you guys use to store your cultures?

P.S. I hope you don't mind if I refer to you now for my microbiology interests :P

What? I don't culture pathogens to infect people...I do it to study them.

Get the MIRA3 XM. I was fortunate enough to play around with it in neurology and chemistry. POWERFUL fucking microscope. That thing can see even the smallest single celled organism with perfect clarity!
