Well, it seems that Microsoft has finally invented a new way to prevent piracy.
As we all know, previous game rips were around 7.2 - 7.8GBs in size, which can easily fit on a DVD+R DL disc. With the few recent patches out now, Microsoft has updated a few drives to support a new format called XGD3 (Xbox Game Disc 3). This format pushes the boundaries of their discs to the edge of the dye. For example: Battlefield 3 is of the XGD3 format, and rips at 8.8GBs. I can't possibly fit that on a standard DVD+R DL disc with the capacity for 8.5GB; that cuts off some data and could possibly have CIV/AP checks.
There are ways around it in development, but most require me having to buy a specific DVD burner and expensive Verbatims. Fuck that.
