    BSoD: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

So I simply alt-tabbed out of AlterIW to set the priority of aiw.exe and aiw.dat from Low to High in Task Manager. After I finished, I alt-tabbed back into the game and the computer crashed. When I restarted it gave me a BSoD with PFN_LIST_CORRUPT followed by ***STOP: 0x0000004E(0x0000099, 0x000440003, 0x00000001, 0, 00000000)

    I have already
    Checked with Google
Vacuumed the dust inside the computer
    Removed and reinserted the RAM

I'm considering reformatting, and if it doesn't work, go to a store to ask someone to fix it, and if it doesn't work, I'd have to buy a new computer

Any help would be appreciated, and if anything doesn't work, please recommend me a good store to fix the computer or a decent and cheap standard computer (at least being able to run MW2 would be nice).

    Here are the specs.:
2005 built standard HP Media Center PC m7490n
Windows XP Media Center Edition SP3
    nVidia 7300LE

    Thanks

I did try that already, the scan didn't find anything wrong with the hard drive and I can't get even past the Windows loading screen to scan for viruses and update drivers.

Tried safe mode? If that fails try boot-time logging to see what's being loaded just before the crash

I tried all three forms of safe modes and they all failed.
How do I do boot-lime logging?

You should be left with a log file somewhere in your system root (C:\Windows), you sure nothing is there?

Live sessions? There are tons of linux distros that are meant just for such stuff (DSL, Puppy, even small Debian / Ubuntu variants)

If you mean contacting a Windows Customer Service, it's no use. As for Linux, my dad's a Windows user :\

You can have live sessions with Linux that will run solely off a USB drive / CD / in RAM and will let you access your HDD

    Ok
Do you think just reformatting is easier?

Dunno, especially seeing as you have no clue what's causing the crash. If you want a safe, easy solution then just reformat, but you'll most likely end up losing quite a bit of data if you don't back it up. Which again, can be done from a live session

Naw, I just recently reformatted it anyway, most I'd lose is probably a few homework assignments
