OMG Im New and I need Help D=
Hi community, Im SmartAlley 
Ive been using Blackberry since 2007 and today I decided to give an opportunity to Iphone.
I didnt had money to buy and Iphone so what I did was change my Blackberry 9700 for an Iphone 3G 8GB Black (it was a trade with a friend).
Let me tell you guys what I have and then what I want to do:
Iphone 3G 8GB Black
Version 3.1.3 (7E18)
Model MB702LL
My friend (the owner) told me that the Iphone has Jailbreak. I dont know too much about this and Im not sure but It has:
Cydia and Installous
What I want to do?
I want to update the OS to a higher because when I tried to install facebook and others apps, the iphone is telling me that I need an OS Update or that the app is for a higher OS.
I dont want to loose the Jailbreak, I live in Dominican Republic and in my country, a Jailbreak cost 2,000 Pesos which is 52 US Dollars
My question is:
Do you guys recommend me to update the IOS?
How do I update the IOS to a higher without losing or damage the Jailbreak?
I dont want to lose the Jailbreak and Im too new to do one myself.
I need advice please!

hope that helps. I would also suggest you unlock your phone so that if you have the sim-pin from your blackberry, you can just use your iphone instead.
- get sn0wbreeze 2.2.1 for win or pwnagetool for mac
- get your 4.2.1 IPSW from here
- open sn0wbreeze/pwnagetool
- browse for your 4.2.1 IPSW / select your device
- Select Simple Mode
- let it create an custom jailbroken IPSW for you.
- once made, it will be placed on the desktop
- follow sn0wbreeze / pwnagetool for PWNED DFU Mode
- once entered PWNED DFU Mode, open iTunes
- if you're using windows, hold the shift key on your keyboard and click on the restore button in iTunes
- same goes for mac, but instead of shift, hold option
- browse for the new custom 4.2.1 IPSW on your desktop using iTunes
- restore to it.
- once restored, you'll be jailbroken...if you want to unlock, search for ultrasn0w in cydia & install it.

Update it to the latest iOS version, then just re jailbreak
if he did that he wouldn't preserve his baseband for an unlock.

Thanks god I downloaded a 4.2.1 Custom iOS and solved my problem.
