Would I get into legal trouble if I shot someone with a BB gun?

Some asshole has been stealing my packages, stole 4 of them and I set up a camera to see when he comes again. Tomorrow i'm gonna put a UPS box on my porch tomorrow and I'm gonna watch when he comes. When he does come for the decoy, I was planning to shoot him in the face with an airsoft gun while hes ON my porch. I know that you can kill someone on your property, but my porch is literally 2 feet away from the sidewalk, would there be any way he could sue me for shooting him on my porch? Also he/she will most likely be a ****** as I live in a all black neighborhood.

This will end bad. D;

My package got stolen today and I got pretty damn pissed. I was literally gonna shoot him in the face with a 300 round clip if I ever saw him.

You should be fine, stealing other people's mail is a federal offense so light that dude up.

What really PISSES me off is that he steals ANYTHING on my porch regardless of what is inside it. My dog has a really bad ear infection so I bought this medicine for her that I couldn't find and it arrives and looks whats gone. I mean, really? Dog medicine?

Put a poisonous snake in the UPS box.

Use your connections and jump him when hes sTealing.

Ask him to stop first. If he doesn't appear to listen, you've got the full right to undertake whatever necessary to protect your own property.

Actually, I believe you can kill him if he's a threat and only while he's on your property.

Hes not a threat, just a thief. You want to take hes life for something worth 300$? Thats not nice..

Besides, if you killed him, you would still have to pay a fee(I think).

If you see him shoot at the ground first and tell him to never come back. If he keeps approaching then it is legal for you to shoot him since your life might be in danger. A good idea would be to video tape the whole thing. That way you can prove that you were direct in telling him to never come back and if he does approach it was a just action in shooting him. I would avoid killing him (obviously an airsoft gun wouldn't do that), but don't do anything too rash. I mean if he pulls a knife on you or something go ahead and shoot him as much as you feel necessary.
