Here a build for around that price, no GFX card though it will still run until you have enough for a GFX:

Intel Core i7-2700K = $332
AMD Entertainment 16GB Kit(8Gx 2) DDR3 1600 = $130
Seagate 3.5" Barracuda 3TB = $199
Lite-On SATA DVD RW = $21
Thermaltake EVO Blue 750Watt APFC Gaming PSU = $150
Antec DF-85 Dark Fleet Gaming Case = $171

Don't buy this. Looks like you just decked out on all the best parts. Really no point in that kind of motherboard and powersupply and hard drive.

This is just half of the build I'm doing, in short supply of the cash but this will suffice until next week when I get more.

Despite what you said that you're not an extreme gamer I wanted to provide you with some over-average performance while not crossing the budget limit too much. After all, you don't want the build to get old after a year.

Corsair 16GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR3 = $115 (not too expensive for 16GB

GeForce GTX 560 1GB = $189 (the GTX 560 Ti version is $229)

Intel Core i5 3450 = $205

Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB = $199 (it has speed and quality, 2TB is more than enough)

LG 12X BD-R Blu-ray DVD Combo Drive = $55 (Blu-Ray compatible

i actually find this build pretty good. He doesnt NEED the BEST of all MB.

Yes for the price there "AMAZING" but there best avoided as they are made with ASUS legacy technology.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Please stop talking if you think he should shell out nearly $300 for a motherboard that he won't even use for gaming that much. And PS, so is the motherboard you picked.

ASRock started because a former employee of ASUS who was a motherboard designer was fired and started using ASUS technology to start a rival company, and he should shell out more money for an expensive MB because it will save him money in the long run when he wants to upgrade further.
