Is this true?
So my friend told me he meant someone on a dayZ server that spawned in stuff for him and shit right? well when my friend asked how he hacked.
The guy said he had had arma 2 for a long time now and his battle eye was not updated, saying that he cannot be banned because of this?

I'm wondering if this is possible?
Ah okay thanks for replying so fast

You got lucky, hehe
Also, this might be like 2 questions in 1, but i was wondering. you know the wallhack thing? well i was thinking. what if someone takes out the, say Tree.pbo file but makes another pbo file named tree thats only like grass, so that means that you WONT have the trees and the servers wont detect it maybe?
bcause there will still be a tree.pbo file in there, iunno if you get what i mean but yea :3

No idea. Would be cool if you tried and reported back with the results, though :> The file size would most likely be exctly the same though.. Don't quote me on this though
I thing Lockdown stated that they do a full checksum of the files so even a little editing wouldn't work. Or I would've edited the main dayZcode.pbo to have no zombies :P

Zombies are server-side afaik, there are a few servers that have turned off spawning.. Texture hacks have been around for almost every single game there is, so making one for DayZ would most likely not be impossible. However it's not something I would go into, as I would most likely waste a lot of time without great results.
D: i cant test anything anymore, i mean i would but yeaa i kinda got banned for being stupid and hackign without a bypass:3

How do you even make pbo files anyway?

Info
A pbo file originally meant 'packed bank of files'. The acronym can be read as "Packed Bohemia Object". Through use it has come to represent a single 'package' to achieve a result, such as a mission, or an addon.

A .pbo file is the output produced by the Mission Editor when 'exporting' and contains nothing more (and nothing less) than the content of all the files and folders making up a mission or campaign, or addon. It is a single file representation of a folder tree. The key to grasp is that anything you uniquely make in a folder, such as a mission, such as a campaign, such as an addon, can be conveniently packaged into a single file, called, a pbo.

The engine will internally expand any pbo back out to it's original, tree-folder, form.

Additionally, the engine will work with the equivalent non pbo versions of missions or campaigns, but not (unfortunately) Addons. Addons must be in 'pbo format' to be usable by the engine.
!

not entirely sure how he did it, but I played with a friend who deleted the tree file or something along those lines and he could run through the trees and shoot through them.

When I saw him run through a tree, it would force his model to go around it on my screen.

Gives a huge advantage

That was done by simply deleting say "tree.pbo" or whatever the fuck it was called :> They recently fixed it though.
Zombies are client side since they don't spawn until player is ~200m close. Also, there was a UC thread about deleting that zombie code and the zoms wouldn't spawn.

On the addons, here is some info for adding texture packs:
FAQ - Armaholic

But idk where to find the textures nor if they can be applied to full servers or even the dayz mod.

Zeds are definitely not client side only mate. I'll give you an example:

I'm sitting in elektro hill (yeah, i know..) gazing down upon MY city through my magnificent sniper scope. The first thing I check for is whether or not zeds are around. If they are, I know someone's been there recently. This means that when a player is X meters close to Y position, zeds and/or items will spawn server-side.
To make sure no one asks about this in the future

Q: Is it possible to delete some files from the PBOs?
A: No, the signature (Correct me if I'm wrong) checks the files signature (hash?) (This is how it worked in Vindictus long ago, so I assume it's the same here) and if it is not 100% correct (Meaning same EXACT files contained within) then your signature check fails. The way people got around this in Vindictus was they created a program that could spoof the signature of a file.
