Summer Bridge?

I'm starting school on September 6th, however, my stupid HS wants me to attend this course-work called Summer Bridge that starts tomorrow and is a whole 5 days long. The courses are 3 hours long (9am-12pm) and I honestly don't want to interrupt the last few precious days of my Summer with unnecessary school shit.
I asked a couple of friends on whether they're going or not, and they're all going since it states "All 9th graders are expected to attend" on the bottom of the letter I received informing us on the dates of this program. Anyhow, I forgot to state that I'm starting as a 9th grader, first day of HS. I REALLY don't want to attend this stupid crap, so I did some research online. From what I've seen on links provided by Google, Summer Bridge is a course-work that assists you on categories such as reading, etc.? Also, on every link, I saw College on them and I was curious.

Has anyone gone to this similar shit? If it's something that tells us about the school and crap, then I really will decide on not going since I've been in the school for 2 years. Then again, I'm afraid since I don't want to miss out on anything special that'll affect my year in 9th grade.

@Obliteration I went today. Just came back a little while ago, was raining a shitstorm today. Thankfully, I came and went by car. Anyhow, it was pretty good I guess. I met a lot of old and new friends today, so I feel a bit more comfortable. However, it was just the plain old introducing and some kiddie scavenger hunt around the school. I'm most probably not going to go anymore assuming it doesn't affect your Report Card. It was pretty awkward though since I'm like taller than more than half of the whole 9th grade there since I'm 5'10. I have a few pair of Jordans that boost me up to 5'11 because of the thickness.
