Random Microsoft Call
So it's 9 :45 AM and I was sleeping a lovely sleep . Since my mum doesn't speak English she woke me up to talk to someone that was currently talking to her on the phone .

He was saying that he is calling me from Ireland about my Microsoft Pc . He knew my father's name and our telephone , but we didn't give them out to anyone and we didn't purchase anything computer related on his name .

I told him that I don't have a Windows OS , but I have an Apple Macintosh Operating System .
He stopped for a moment , and just continued telling me to switch on the PC so he could tell me step by step how to delete this 'hidden file' . After he told me to turn on the PC he just hung.

His number is 9751761321 and I googled it and it says it is an Indian Number . Many people are aware of someone calling them about a hidden file and he just hacks your computer .

Do you think this was a scam ?
Btw we don't really have a Macintosh we have a Windows Xp and a Windows 7 OS , but I just invented something at the moment /

"Cybercriminals often use publicly available phone directories so they might know your name and other personal information when they call you. They might even guess what operating system you're using."

And yes, it is known for these cold calls to originate from India. If you want to take it further, you can report the phone fraud to your local authorities (eg. Federal Trade Commission in US or ScamWatch in Australia).
I wonder how that would be a scam
